In this workshop Larry will explore and breakdown his own approach to fingerstyle guitar. He will detail the licks, runs, movable chord positions, bass lines, harmonies and complex fingerpicking patterns that have made Larry the skilled, well sought after musician he is today. You'll be immersed in a variety of intermediate-to-advanced guitar skills and advance your playing level while adding style and nuance to any song you play.

Interpreting the Gospel of The Rev. Gary Davis

In this class Larry will explore and expand on the essence of Rev. Davis' unique approach to the guitar. He will detail the licks and runs, movable chord positions, bass lines, harmonies and complex fingerpicking patterns that have made the Rev.'s songs the touchstones of the blues and folk-gospel world. You'll be immersed in a variety of intermediate-to-advanced guitar skills, and will be able to use what you've learned when creating arrangements for other songs in this genre.

About Larry Campbell

Larry Campbell is a multi-instrumentalist who has been a studio musician, recording music with other artists on their albums, and a respected sideman, performing as a backup musician in clubs and concert venues, since the seventies. He moves freely between rock, blues, country, folk and Celtic, playing guitar, fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel, cittern, dobro and banjo. In 2005, he released his first solo acoustic guitar album called Rooftops. In 2008, Larry was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his instrumental work from the Americana Music Association.

Larry has had extensive experience as a studio musician. Over the past few years, Larry has recorded with Levon Helm, Judy Collins, Linda Thompson, Sheryl Crow, B. B. King, and Willie Nelson. Larry appears on Jorma's latest solo album, River of Time.
