Explanation of Tuition/Fees
Tuition: $1375 (US)
Special Weekend Tuition:
$1500 (US) (This rate applies to the May 23, 2014 workshop with David Lindley and the June 27, 2014 workshops with Jorma Kaukonen and G.E. Smith)
FPR On The Road at The Dana Resort, San Diego, CA January 27-31, 2014 and February 3-7, 2014:
$1899 (US) (includes 4 nights lodging and meals at The Dana) $1699 (US) (includes all meals at The Dana, student responsible for own lodging)
- Workshops (10+ hours of instruction)
- All meals (Friday lunch through Monday breakfast)
- Ticket for the Saturday night performance at the Fur Peace Station Concert Hall
- Student Performance
- Overnight accommodations in one of our double-occupancy cabins (space permitting). If application is received after our cabin space is full, overnight accommodations may not be available. A list of local hotels is available upon request or by clicking here. Sorry there is no reduction in tuition if cabin space in unavailable.

The Fur Peace Ranch accepts personal checks, cashier's checks, and business checks. If paying by check, please make check payable to Fur Peace Ranch and mail to:

A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 is required with each signed application. Deposits are applied toward your tuition. Deposits are used for processing fees and instructor deposits and are not student funds held in escrow, therefore they are non-transferable and non-refundable.
The tuition balance is due by the final payment date indicated on invoice. Students paying by credit card will be automatically charged the balance due on designated due date to the account on file, unless prior arrangements have been made and approved.
You may make payments towards your total final balance at any time by check or credit card: either mail a check, or notify the office of the desired transaction date and amount to make a credit card payment. You can also arrange for an automatic installment payment plan when paying by credit card.

Any application received within the four weeks prior to workshop must include full tuition.
Students may not transfer their workshop to another person under any circumstance. Notification of cancellation must be given in writing (email is okay) and received no later than 4 PM ET of the final cancellation date indicated on your Account Statement. The $200.00 deposit is non-refundable. If notice of cancellation is received by 4 PM ET of the final cancellation date any tuition payments beyond the $200 deposit will be refunded. No refunds will be given for any cancellation received after 4 PM ET cancellation date deadline. Cancellations received after 4 PM ET are automatically considered “next day”. Refunds will not be given for any reason after scheduled workshop begins.
Guest fees are fully refundable up to 7 days prior to workshop (the Friday preceding workshop commencement). After 7 days prior to the workshop refunds cannot be honored. Notice of guest cancellation should be supplied in writing (email okay).
If the Fur Peace Ranch must cancel a workshop, all monies will be refunded or credited to another workshop. Fur Peace Ranch, Inc. is not responsible for travel expenses prepaid by students in the event of last minute cancellations.
(If this is of concern for you, you may wish to purchase travel insurance).
Guest and Guest Fees
- Guest Fee (lodging offsite): $225 (US)
- Guest Fee (lodging at FPR with enrolled student): $325 (US)
- Guest Fee for Couple's Weekend: $350 (US)
Guests may attend all meals, Saturday Night Performance, and our Student Performance (everything but the workshops).
Any student planning on bringing a guest MUST get prior approval by the Camp Director at least 4 weeks prior to workshop date.
Guest fees are fully refundable up to 7 days prior to workshop (the Friday preceding workshop commencement). After 7 days prior to the workshop refunds cannot be honored. Notice of guest cancellation should be supplied in writing (email okay) by 4 PM ET.
Workshop Sessions Explained
Regular Weekend Sessions: Run from noon on Friday to noon on Monday. Tuition covers all workshops, performances, daily meals, and accommodations in one of our double occupancy cabins. Massage sessions are available by appointment for an additional fee:
Couples' Weekend: Runs from noon Friday until noon Monday like our regular weekend sessions. Spouses/guests now have the option to take a workshop for a reduced fee (see below). Spouses that do not elect to take a workshop have the option of a massage and/or visiting local tourist attractions. Tuition covers workshops, performances, daily gourmet meals, and accommodations in one of our cabins (space permitting). Massage Therapy is available by appointment for an additional fee.
$1,375 (US) for the first student.
Spouse/Guest participating in workshop: $1025 (US)
Spouse/Guest not taking a workshop: $350 (US)
Pick N Putt Weekend: Runs from noon Friday until noon Monday and is much like our regular weekend sessions, however Jorma leads a motorcycle ride that usually encompasses about 200 miles of road in beautiful Southeastern Ohio. "The big ride" is held on Saturday or Sunday (depending on weather conditions.) You are not required to ride or own a bike to attend this workshop. Workshops are scheduled around rides, so no workshop time is sacrificed for students not riding. Time missed due to "the big ride" will be made up during the course of the weekend.
Special Weekend: Sessions run from noon on Friday to noon on Monday like the regular weekend sessions, the difference being that we only have one instructor on site. Class size is limited to sixteen students and includes breakout sessions in smaller groups and one-on-one instruction. Tuition covers all workshops, performances, daily meals, complimentary ½ hour massage and single accommodations in one of our cabins.
If you are planning to sign a loved-one up for a workshop please consider our gift certificates. Submitting an application for another is strictly prohibited because our application contains a series of questions only the applicant will be able to answer regarding their skill level and playing abilities that we rely upon to determine an applicant’s abilities and placement. Gift Certificates may not be purchased with the expectation or guarantee that a student will be able to enroll in a particular instructor's workshop unless, the student is already enrolled in the workshop.
Gift Certificates are available in any amount. Gift Certificates are good for two years from the date issued and are non-transferable. All gift certificates are fully refundable for 30 days from purchase date. Please call the office directly at (740) 992-2575 to arrange your gift certificate purchase.
Fur Peace Ranch offers an atmosphere which allows instructors, students, guests and staff, together, to create a responsible and responsive musical community. We expect all guests to take responsibility for themselves and their personal belongings. The Fur Peace Ranch will not be held responsible for loss or theft of any personal property. Students or guests engaging in any behavior which endangers or puts someone at risk of danger, will be asked to leave without a refund of tuition. Alcohol, illegal drugs and firearms are not permitted; any student or guest found using or in possession of such will be asked to leave the Fur Peace Ranch workshop event without a refund of tuition.
Additionally, no pets are allowed. If you need to bring your pet to Ohio with you, we recommend boarding them with Furry Friends in Athens, OH (about 15 minutes from the Ranch).
Taping and Recording Policy
It is suggested that students record their classes for personal reference only, (no video recording permitted). However, recording is by instructor permission only. After you get permission, if you walk away from the Fur Peace Ranch with audio recordings in the form of cd’s/dvd’s/tapes or e-files or any form known or unknown at this time, let it be known that these recordings are for personal use only. They are not to be shared, downloaded, sold or posted on the internet ever. It is the student’s responsibility to abide by this legal request.
We make accommodations for ages 14 through 17 to attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Under age students and their chaperone may stay off site, or on the FPR Campus with the appropriate guest fee.
All students are required to bring their own instruments and other materials needed for each workshop.
The Fur Peace Ranch does have 2 acoustic guitars available for rent during our weekend sessions, we do not have electric guitars, bass guitars or amps available for rent. Please indicate at time of enrollment if equipment rental is needed. Rental is $100.00 per weekend, with a $250.00 deposit.
Amps are provided for bass workshops, but only during workshop times. Bring a small box amp for non-workshop time. We do have a very limited number of small bass amps for rent for practice and jamming for $75.
Electric Guitar Workshops attendees will need to bring a small box amp. Please no Marshall stacks.
All cabins are double occupancy and are included with tuition (space permitting). Cabins are furnished with two single beds with linens, a small nightstand or bookcase, and alarm clock. All cabins have base-board electric heat and window air conditioners for your comfort. Cabins are available on a first come first serve basis. We can only accommodate a certain number of students with a cabin space, it is possible that you may not have a cabin included as part of your tuition. We try our best to be gentle with our planet's resources. With this in mind, we will e-mail you a receipt (whenever possible) rather than the paper and postal route.
Full Tuition scholarships are available to qualified students. At this time scholarships are reserved for all active service members of all branches of the U.S. Military.
